# Overview

Every Zest user gets a personal referral code (`ZEST-XXXX-XXXX`) and a shareable link at `/referral`.

## How it works

```
You invite → Friend (L1) trades → You earn 10% of their points
Friend invites → Their friend (L2) trades → You earn 5% of those points
```

Referral rewards are **passive and permanent** — they compound for as long as your referrals keep trading.

## Your referral page

At `/referral` you can:

* Copy your personal invite link
* Share directly to X (Twitter) with a pre-filled post
* See all referred wallets, their volume, and status (active / locked)
* Track your total referral earnings

## Code activation

| User type | Referral code status |
| --------------------- | --------------------------------------------- |
| OG user (no referrer) | ✅ Active immediately |
| Referred user         | 🔒 Locked until $200K personal trading volume |

Referred users who hit $200K volume simultaneously **unlock their code** and **jump to Tier 1** (10 referral slots). This prevents sybil chains from zero-volume wallets.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.zest.ac/referral-program/overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
